Simon looked uneasily at the tracks. 'It's getting worse, not better' he thought as the vertigo swam up from his stomach and fluttered giddily around the back of his skull. If he shut his eyes he knew he'd lose his balance and fall into the waiting electrical death. But the longer he looked at them the more the angles seemed to collapse, the platform tilting in an attempt to topple him to those cold mocking steel electrified rails. He tried to work out which of the four rails meant death so he could try and steer his fall onto one that wasn't electric... he thought the second rail to the platform looked the worst. The first and third ones being the ones the trains wheels ran on. Wheels? What was he thinking tube trains didn't have wheels? Or did they? The more he thought about it the sicker he became. He glanced up at the message board to see how long it was until the next train, but usefully it just held the message, 'no smoking' in awful orange letters. Then thankfully he felt the vibrations and then heard the distant rumbling of the train approaching. 'Thank god for that.' He sighed to himself although he didn't really believe in any particular god. He felt the welcoming breeze of the oncoming train in his face and his anxiety grew less and less. As the train came in view of the platform, a man in a black leather jacket approached from behind and simply said, 'I don't think so' and pushed him hard off the platform into the path of the oncoming train.

21.03.03 I burnt my fingers on the way to the chemists. I didn't even know why I was going there, probably to sort out my split ends and backwards bends. It's a strange time of life sitting in these sanitised deck-chairs watching sanitised images of chaos and destruction. We used to think we were clever, but the media caught us up... who knows what to believe now? And if you don't trust anything, you don't trust yourself. Into this world of danger comes The Picture Of Tom wrapped lovingly around four beautiful songs of our time.
If ever you are feeling anxious, powerless or depressed, fix your eyes on The Picture Of Tom; Tom is happy and at peace and comes complete with KitKats.
